CATS – Research for Presentation (Original Presentation)

For the milestones presentation it is imperative that i conducted research. This would help me gain better knowledge and allow me to make a informative, educational and factual presentation.

The first lot of research, I did was background research on radio broadcasting and the BBC History. When collating all the key facts i only picked out a few for the actual presentation. This was because all the information would have looked to much on the slide and I only had 10 minutes for the full presentation. This part of the presentation was only a small part of the presentation so didn’t have long to talk about this.

To condense the information I placed all facts into a word document and took a screenshot. The blog post went on for ever other wise.

The second part of the research was about the different types of radio broadcasts, funding and what different BBC radio stations remits are:

I then took a look into the different social and political issues caused by radio broadcasting. This meant that i needed cases where the laws have been broken and how radio used its power to manipulate a news story.

I came across a few case studies where taste indecency and gender representation issues have occurred within radio broadcasting.

  • Russell brand and Jonathan Ross, taste indecency, voice mails
  • BBC in new sexism row after gender pay gap revealed’ covered by the telegraph – sexism issue, higher pay for men
  • (Australian radio DJ’s) prank call to hospital (Kate Middleton), taste indecency.

After conducting, research I feel more knowledgable about the chosen topic and feel like i can now pass on what i have learned through my presentation
